crystal ball gazing - olympic predictions

With the Olympics almost upon us, the world's press have been feverishly predicting who will win what and how. We take a look at three of the most prominent predictions and then stick our neck out to make our own predictions for the British team.

    british team profiles

As Britain's swimming Olympians gear up for Aathens, we profile every member of the team and assess their prospects. We also take a look at some possibilities for addtional events should the team members get extra swims.

    brett hawke

With the Olympic swimming programme only days away it's always good to get an international perspective on how the events will pan out so we sought out top Australian 50m freestyler Brett Hawke to get his views on the sprints in Athens and to try and find out the secrets behind his preparation for his second Olympic campaign.

on the road to athens - british trials review

While Britain's Olympic trials may not have produced quite the drama of their Australian counterparts, they were still a fine exhibition of how British swimming has improved in recent years. Eighteen new British records were set along with two new Commonwealth marks as 36 swimmers booked their trip to Athens this summer.

    australian trials review

For a number of reasons it was an eventful week in Sydney; we take a look back at the 2004 Australian Olympic trials. It was a meet that produced it's fair share of drama both in and out of the pool as the 42 strong team was finalised.

aussie trials - the australian view

It's all very well writing about the Australian Olympic trials, but we wanted a home perspective, so we tracked down top Aussie Coach Ian Pope, who looks after Giaan Rooney, Michael Klim and Matt Welsh amongst others, to get his take on the meet just gone and Australia's Olympic prospects.

olympic trials - ones to watch

This year's British championships and Olympic selection trials are the most anticipated swimming competition in the UK since the 2002 Commonwealth Games, as the country's top swimmers gun for those precious places on the plane to Athens in August of this year. But who will make the team? Well team predictions are notoriously difficult, so instead we pick out a number of swimmers to keep your eyes on at the trials.

olympic selection - a difficult puzzle

Pullbuoy used to make a habit of predicting who would be selected for Britain's team at major championships, but that was when selection was a significantly clearer process to understand and in recent years, the selection policies have become increasingly complex. We take a look at the Olympic Selection policy and try to determine exactly what our swimmers need to do at the trials to guarantee their seat on the plane for Athens.
